Sardinia airport. Cagliari Airport Sardinia

Sardinia is an island that is located

in the Mediterranean Sea and belongs to the territory of Italy. Tourism is the main source of income: about 2 million tourists visit the island every year, more than 150 thousand of them from Russia. And this is not surprising, because Sardinia is a territory of elite beaches, unique buildings and gourmet cuisine. Russian tourists are also looking forward to the most hospitable airport in Sardinia - Cagliari. During the hot season from June to October, charter flights run on the Moscow-Cagliari-Moscow route. The cost of a ticket in both directions - from 17,000 rubles.

Airport description

This Sardinian airport is located 7 km from the island's capital of the same name - Cagliari. The road to the city center will take only 10-15 minutes. The air port has been operating since 1937 and is of international importance. The annual passenger traffic is more than 4 million people. Cagliari Airport has only two runways. The terminal is a three-story building, where the services of banks, shops, restaurants, cafes, business centers and bars are provided for a comfortable stay of tourists. But at the same time, this small port differs in many ways from the major airports in Europe in the limited variety of services provided. On the ground floor of the airport there is an arrivals area with two baggage claim areas. Only employees and arriving passengers are allowed in this sector. Here you can find a tour desk, a first-aid post, an ATM and a buffet. And if upon arrival there is a desire to rent a car, then next to the terminal there is a car rental company. On the second floor, Cagliari Airport (Sardinia) has a departure area, which is equipped with 42 check-in counters. Here you will find a huge number of shops, a wine bar and a snack bar with amazing views of the runway. From here there is a direct access to the multi-storey car park. The third floor of the terminal houses airline offices, business centers, a self-service restaurant, government agencies, a control room and an airport control room.

Therefore, everywhere you can see the impact of these civilizations on the art, architecture and life of local residents. Cagliari is a small city with about 150,000 inhabitants. The main attractions of the city are:

When our two-week trip to Italy was almost over and we had eaten plenty of pasta and pizza on the mainland, it was the turn of historical, aesthetic and cultural enlightenment. Picturesque Sardinia was waiting for us! Fortunately, you can get there without any problems.

There are four small airports directly on the island, namely:

  • Costa Smeralda (Olbia);
  • Fertilia (Alghero);
  • Arbatax (Tortoli);
  • and Elmas (Cagliari), which will be discussed later.

We arrived on a rainy gray morning, so the air bridge was very handy! It leads to the corridor of the terminal:

After passing it, we got straight into the baggage claim area. We didn’t have to wait very long, 10 minutes maximum, although, as you can see, there were quite a lot of passengers.

Having dealt with the luggage, we went to the spacious arrivals area.

By the way, there are plenty of signs and information boards at the airport, so to get lost here, you need to try very hard. The air harbor itself is small, greyish, dusty... In short, pompously, you will definitely not be met here with a red carpet, but the staff is quite polite, friendly and sympathetic.

Inside you will find:

  • the shops;
  • cafes and restaurants with Sardinian cuisine;
  • toilets (C grade cleanliness, in need of repair);
  • railway station.

You can eat a large sandwich for 8 euros, but I didn’t like the taste of it. Of the minuses, I can also note the long queues for registration and inspection, which we encountered on the way back. I don’t know what it was connected with, but they examined it with special zeal. Come to Elmas in advance!
