"White Cloud Mountains" is the translation of Baiyun Mountains, Guangzhou's most popular natural attraction, located 15 km from the heart of the city. For more than a thousand years, the Chinese nobility have enjoyed contemplating mountain peaks sinking into the heavenly heights, fishing in low-lying lakes and walking along gentle slopes covered with deciduous forests. Today, the Baiyun Mountains are not only nature: the enterprising Chinese organized a whole resort here, however, without detracting from the richness and beauty of the landscapes. Here you can walk through the sculpture park, view the Guangzhou panorama from the observation platforms, visit Buddhist temples, climb the cable car and much more - but the main occupation is still leisurely walks in the fresh air in the bosom of amazingly beautiful nature.

A bit of history

The Baiyun Mountains, as a climatic resort, have a long and glorious history - people came here to rest as early as the 5th century BC. The mountains attracted particular attention of the ruling elite during the Jin Dynasty, in the 3rd century, and members of the next Tang Dynasty used the Baiyun Mountains as their main resort place. Throughout its history, the mountains have repeatedly won the title of one of the eight wonders of Guangzhou. And in the modern period, a cable car was added here, a sculpture park was created, the largest bird park in Asia was founded, a temple was built and a golf course was laid out.

The name of the 382-meter peak Mosinlin literally translates as "the peak touching the stars."

What to see

Baiyun Mountains - a range of low hills with a maximum height of 382 meters, covering an area of 28 square meters. km and consisting of more than thirty mountain peaks. More than 95% of their area is covered with deciduous forests, and for this the mountains have received the nickname "the lungs of Guangzhou".

The entrance to the park is located at the foot of the mountain range. When visiting it, you should definitely climb a steep staircase carved into the rock to the highest peak of the Baiyun Mountains - the 382-meter Moxingling Peak, whose name literally translates as "peak that touches the stars." Needless to say, the Moxinglin observation deck offers a magnificent view of the mountains and the city of Guangzhou, as well as the city of new buildings of Zhuzhan.

It is customary to hang locks on the Buddhist monument "suoay tai" and make a wish. The China Telecom mobile communications tower, oddly enough, is also a frequently photographed landmark in the Baiyun Mountains. The Chinese pavilion Mingzhulou is very interesting to visit - it can boast of magnificent architecture according to all the canons of national art and the Buddhist temple of Nengzhensi. The Mingchun Valley is recognized by experts as the "birdcage of Asia" - thanks to a warm and humid climate, as well as an extensive conservation program, a record number of birds live here. You can admire nature that is not wild, but "pacified" by man in the gardens of the Baiyun Mountains - the largest Yuntai, with an area of 120 thousand square meters. km, and more chamber Xinhai. It is also worth a look at the sculpture park and quench your thirst with water from the healing spring of Qliulun.

Guangzhou is the capital of Guangdong Province, one of the largest cities in China, with a population of 12 million people. Most people come to the city for work. And I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that the city has a huge number of different parks - from gardens with a thousand-year history to centers where you can see migrating birds.

All parks open around 6 am. Once I went to the park early in the morning and was extremely surprised to see a lot of people there. At this time, there are many Chinese pensioners in the park who practice tai chi (tai chi) - a Chinese martial art that is good for health, play different games, sing, and traditional Chinese music sounds. At the same time, you can also join them, they will gladly accept you, even if you do not speak Chinese. Just repeat the movements.

Guangzhou is also called the city of five goats, but to find out why, you need to visit one of the amazing parks - Yuexiu Park (Yuexiu park).

Yuexiu Park

This one of the largest and most beautiful, in my opinion, Guangzhou parks, its area is 860 thousand square meters. The park is located on seven hills, there are three artificial lakes. It was opened in 1952 and shows the history of Guangzhou's development from a small village to a giant metropolis.

In addition to the magnificent nature, in the park you will find a statue of five goats. According to legend, many centuries ago, in order to save the inhabitants from hunger, the gods arrived in Guangzhou on five goats, and each goat had twenty-five ears of corn. Since then, five goats have become a symbol of the city and are depicted on many souvenirs, they can even be seen on the coat of arms of Guangzhou.

In addition to the statue of the five goats, in the park you can visit the Guangzhou Museum, which consists of the Zhenhai Tower and the art gallery.

Zhenhai Tower is a five-story building that was built in 1380 and rebuilt five times, the last in 1928. Near the entrance to the building you will see two two-meter lions. Currently, the tower serves as a museum of history, where you can find thousands of paintings and historical relics from various Chinese dynasties, such as Ming, Tang, Jin.

In the gallery you can see the works of local masters from ancient times to the present.

Entrance to the tower and art gallery is 1.5 dollars or 10 yuan.

As I mentioned earlier, there are three lakes in the park. On Beishu Lake Beixiu) you can rent a pleasure boat and go fishing.

Despite the fact that the park is very large, it is very difficult to get lost there, because there are signs everywhere.

Opening hours

The park is open from 6:00 to 21:30.

How to get there:

  • 2nd metro line. Get off at Yuexiu Park Station and go outside via Exit B1;

Flower festivals are held in the park in spring and autumn. At this time, the park is decorated with flowers and traditional ornaments, festivities and exhibitions are held here, and Chinese lanterns are launched.

There are several large restaurants and cafes on the territory of the park. One of the restaurants is located next to the lake and offers a wonderful view. Also outside the park there are several cafes of Chinese and Turkish cuisine (for example, Bosphorus Turkish Restaurant)

Baiyunshan Park (Baiyun Mountain)

Baiyunshan literally means "White Cloud Mountain". The park got its name because after the rain in a clear sky, Baiyun Mountain is shrouded in clouds. This is especially noticeable in late spring.

Baiyunshan Park is located 17 kilometers from the city on a picturesque mountain. There are 30 peaks in the park, the highest peak is 382 meters high. Total area of the park 28 square kilometers.

There are six zones in the park:

In my opinion, the best time to visit the park is from September to November, since at this time it is not too hot, the weather is quite moderate.

How to get there

  • Bus No. 63, 245, get off at Yuntai Garden stop
  • Bus number B16, B18, 32, 46, 60, 63, 127, 175 or 223, in this case, you need to get off at the Baiyunshan Ximen stop (Baiyunshan Ximen)
  • Subway Line 3, get off at Meihuayuan Station

Cost of visiting

The entrance fee to the park depends on what you want to visit:

  • general admission - 80 cents (5 yuan)

  • Bird Spring Valley Park - $1.50 (10 RMB)

  • Guangzhou Forest of Steles - 80 cents (5 yuan)
  • Peach Blossom Brooklet - 80 cents (5 yuan)

The park has a cable car, the ticket price for which depends on which level you want to climb:

  • lower level - 3 dollars (20 yuan)
  • round-trip ticket - 7 dollars (45 yuan)

Opening hours

Open from 6:00 to 17:00 every day.

The park is very large, so there are several cafes on its territory where you can have a bite to eat.

People's Park

The park was opened in 1921 and at that time was the only park in the city. Because of its location, at first it bore the name of Central Park, but then it was renamed People's Park.

This is a very cozy green park, in which there are six sculptural groups dedicated to the folk heroes of China.

As in any Chinese park, there are a lot of pensioners here in the mornings who do gymnastics or dance.

How to get there

To get to this park, take subway line 1 or 2 and get off at Gongyuanqian Station.

The park is open from 6:00 to 22:00 every day and is free to visit.

People's Park is located near the shopping street of Guangzhou - Beijing Road, where you will find many cafes and restaurants for every taste!

Liuhuahu Park

Liuhuahu Park is one of the most beautiful parks in Guangzhou with the largest artificial lake in the city.

The lake was originally created as a reservoir, but was subsequently opened to the public. In the park you can have picnics, run, besides, there is a playground for children, and if you're lucky, you will get to some kind of musical performance.

Opening hours:

The park is open from 6:00 to 22:00 every day

Free admission .

To get to the park, take the 2nd metro line. You need to get off at Yuexiu Park Station.

If you are tired of walking and want to eat, there is a restaurant and a cafe of traditional Chinese cuisine on the territory.

Shamian Island

Also, if you are in Guangzhou, do not miss the opportunity to visit the bulk sandy island of Shamian in the Liwan region. It is notable for the fact that at the end of the 19th century it served as a center of international trade, and foreigners mostly settled there. As a result, a lot of buildings have been preserved on the island, which were built in various architectural styles, such as baroque, gothic, neoclassical... You feel here like in a small Europe in the middle of Asia. Even now, many foreigners live on the island.

The island has a park, playgrounds, many different monuments, a hospital, banks, cafes. Chinese modeling agencies and newlyweds regularly hold photo shoots here. International art exhibitions are constantly held. And there are also many fishermen. In fact, I'm not sure if the fish they catch is edible, because the city has a very strong industry, and therefore the waters in Guangzhou are very polluted.

How to get there

To get to Shamian Island, take subway line 1, get off at Huangsha Station and then exit F. When you go outside, you will see high-rise buildings and very poor Chinese houses interspersed. To get to the island, you need to go through the bridge.

Since the island is an ordinary residential area of Guangzhou, there are a large number of cafes (mainly Chinese cuisine) here.

Zoos

In addition to the huge number of parks, Guangzhou has several zoos.

Guangzhou Zoo

The local zoo is one of the largest zoos in China, its total area is 42 hectares. In the zoo, you will find 450 different species of animals, including giant pandas, South China tigers, lions and many other fauna. The zoo is divided into several large zones. Here are the most interesting of them:

  • Giant Panda House (It's worth noting that there are only two giant pandas in this zoo)
  • Tiger zone, here you can see the South China tigers.
  • Lion Zone - A pair of African lions and a pair of rare white lions.
  • Guangzhou Aquarium. The aquarium hosts shows of fur seals and sharks. Visitors are allowed to feed fish, fur seals and turtles
  • Garden of goldfish. Here you will find a large collection of rare and valuable fish

The zoo periodically hosts animal performances, when animals perform any acrobatic stunts, ride scooters and bicycles, the schedule can be found at the box office.

  • Subway Line 5, get off at Zoo (Dongwuyuan) Station (Zu Dongguyan Station) and continue through Exit B, where you will immediately get to the south entrance.
  • bus No. B2, B2A, B3, B3A, B3B, B10, 30, 133, 191, 209, 221, 233, 245, 256, 278, 280, 287, 301A, 301, 545, 810, 810A, 886, 886A, Get off at Zoo South Gate Station (Zoo South Gate Station).

Opening hours

The zoo is open from April 16 to October 15 from 08:00 to 16:30. From October 16 to April 15 from 08:00 to 16:00.
The oceanarium is open from 09:00 to 18:00. Please note that tickets to the aquarium can only be purchased until 15:30.

If you get hungry, the zoo has several cafes and snack bars.

Chimelong Safari Park (The Chimelong Safari Park)

This is a giant safari park located an hour from the center of Guangzhou. On the maps, Chimelong Paradise is usually indicated. the whole of Guangzhou.

In addition to pandas, in the safari park you will find a huge number of animals from different parts of the world, including koalas, kangaroos, elephants, white tigers, and many different types of birds.

In the park, you can both walk and ride on special trams. The trams have several stops where you can get off and take photos. But it's not like when you walk in the park and spend as much time as you need with the animal you like. You can easily spend the whole day here, as the park is just huge.

I advise you to take a free map at the checkout or at the entrance, it is more convenient to navigate and decide in advance what you want to visit if time is limited. In addition, signs are everywhere in the safari park. It is better to come to the park in the morning, while there are not very long queues and the animals are not sleeping.

During the day, the park hosts various shows with the participation of animals - elephants, birds, tigers and others. Most of all, I remember a bright show with zebras, giraffes and many rare birds, all this was led by a Chinese man dressed as an Indian. All shows are free and are in Chinese.

How to get there

The easiest way to get to the park is to take subway line 3 to Hanxi Changlong Station. From the station to the safari park, walk about ten minutes.

Opening hours

The Safari Park is open Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 18:00, Saturday and Sunday from 09:30 to 18:30.

Price

The cost of an adult ticket is $39 (250 yuan); a child ticket costs $27 (175 yuan). It is worth noting that children below one meter have the right to visit the safari park for free.

This safari park has several cafes and restaurants, mostly stylized (for example, decorated with decorations with animals). The safari park is far from the center, so you can only eat there or take something to eat with you.

Since it gets dark quite early in Guangzhou, I recommend visiting the parks before 18:00. Although the parks are well lit, it is still too dark to enjoy a leisurely walk and have a good look around.

Mount Baiyun, or rather the Baiyun mountain range, is located in Guangzhou, one of the largest cities in China. Baiyunshan, or simply Baiyun, today is a national nature reserve, park, cultural center and observation deck that overlooks the entire city. The name translates as “White Cloud Mountains”, and indeed, fogs and high clouds can often be found here.

Baiyun Nature Reserve occupies almost 21 square meters. km, and the whole space is full of green spaces and curious sights. Tourists will find here an exotic bird park, gardens, temples, architectural structures and a cable car to easily climb to the highest point of the complex.

Mostly people come to Mount Baiyun and its foot in order to admire the nature of China. Here, unlike the stuffy city, there is always fresh air and bright greenery, so a walk through the parks can take a whole day. Locals come here to do gymnastics, run and just relax from the hustle and bustle.

Baiyun is very conveniently located: it is part of the city, so it is easy to get to it. This can be done by public transport - bus or metro, a taxi will be a little more expensive, but more comfortable.

People mostly move around the reserve on foot, but if you get tired, you can rent an electric car. There is a cable car for climbing to the top points of the park and for descending, and cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops are scattered throughout the territory.

Landmarks of Baiyun Mountain in Guangzhou

The mountain and surrounding areas are rightfully considered one of the most interesting sights of Guangzhou. You can walk around the complex every day, and it will not get bored - any local resident will tell you about it. So, what is interesting about the Baiyun Mountain Nature Reserve?

sculpture park

The park was built by the Guangzhou Municipality in 1996 to mark the anniversary of the founding of the city. Today it houses a wide variety of sculptures dedicated to the history and culture of ancient and modern China. A great place to take pictures and get a taste of China.

Yunksi Eco Park

Yongxi is located in the western part of the Baiyun Nature Reserve and is an area with rare and beautiful plants and trees. The entire eco-park is divided into four thematic zones: Tulip Garden, Safflower Garden, Orchard and Waterfall Garden. Each zone has its own landscape with paths, small ponds, fountains and recreation areas, in a word - nature and man have tried to create beauty.

Yuntai Park

It is located in the southern part of the Baiyun complex and is actually a city park - Guangzhou residents come here to take a walk and relax. Tourists rush to Yongtai to climb the Moxing Li Peak - this is the highest point of Baiyun, on which there is a beautiful observation deck. It overlooks Guangzhou and the Pearl River. Entrance to the park costs 10 yuan.

Bird Park and Butterfly Park

The two parks contain the most beautiful species of birds and butterflies. Both of them are considered one of the largest in Asia, so you should definitely visit them. The entrance fee for each park is 10 yuan.

Architectural monuments

On the territory of the Baiyun Reserve there is a Buddhist temple of Nenzhensi, a statue of Buddha called "Suoai tai" and an old house of Mingzhulou. History buffs will be extremely interested to get acquainted with these sights and take some photos as a keepsake.

Baiyun cable car

In order not to climb almost 400 meters above sea level, use the cable car. The cost of the ascent is 25 yuan, the cost of the descent is slightly less - 20 yuan. The lower station of the cable car is located right next to the south gate, so you won't get lost.

Most often, tourists go up in the cable car cabin, and follow their own way back: so you can have time and ride, admiring the views, and take a good walk, looking into all corners of the Baiyun Mountains.

How to get to Baiyun Mountain

You can get to the entrances to the reserve by public transport. It is easier to get to the south gate: buses number 24, 32, 46, 60, 127, 175, 179, 199, 223, 240, 241, 257, 298, 540, 543, 615, 841 go there to the final one. It is easy to recognize by the cluster of buses in the parking lot. Tourist bus number 3 also goes here - it passes through the most picturesque places in Guangzhou. Most of these buses run from metro stations 1 and 2 lines.

Getting to the western gate is more difficult - you need the third subway line (it, by the way, passes through Baiyun Airport) and the Meihuayuan stop. From it you need to go through a few blocks to the west a little more than a kilometer, and there is no cable car here - so when climbing to the peaks you will have to rely only on your own strength.

You can also take a taxi, which from the center will cost a little more than 100 yuan (this is the approximate cost of the trip). Reliable local taxi companies: Baiyun Taxi Company (yellow cars), Guangzhou Transportation Group (brown cars), Guangjun Group (blue cars). Please note: taxi drivers very rarely can talk to a passenger in a foreign language, they only have Chinese in their arsenal. Therefore, prepare in advance: show the destination on your phone or map or remember the pronunciation of the object you need.

See you;)

Today we have a premiere: the first post prepared only by Lena. The fact is that Pasha fell ill with bronchitis in Guangzhou (very soon, by the way, we will publish a post about insurance and Chinese medicine), and one day Lena went to explore the surroundings alone. The story follows in the first person singular.

If you decide to visit Baiyun Mountain, don't think Baiyun Park Subway Station is the right place for you. Before entering the subway, I was in the city center, and the park was about 3.5 km from me, when I arrived at the Baiyun Park station, I was already 4 km from the point where the funicular went to the park :) And near the station metro, it turns out, there is a children's park with the same name. Remember my mistake and don’t repeat it: it’s easier to get to the Baiyun Mountain funicular by taxi or even walk from the center on foot than by subway.

Here is the children's park itself, which confused the name.

Only after a couple of kilometers was near the foot of the mountain. There was no entrance here, so I decided to drive the remaining couple of kilometers to the funicular by taxi. Otherwise, there won’t be enough strength to roam the mountains.

Entrance to the cable car. The ascent costs 25 yuan, the descent is 20 yuan. Let's go there by cable car, walk around everything and go back down on foot.

While you are walking to the cable car, it won't take long to get lost.

There is a small queue to the booths - no one wants to go with strangers, so everyone is waiting for their own separate carriage. I didn’t want to wait and, at the call of the “seating person”, I jumped into the booth with the locals.

We are leaving!

For the first time in China, I felt excessive attention to myself. Not at all embarrassed, fellow travelers began to take selfies with me, and it didn’t matter to them whether I was looking at the camera or not :) Well, they asked for it.

First look at Guangzhou from above. As you can see, the high-rise center is left out.

Cabins run back and forth.

We pass the temple, we will return to it on the way back from the mountain.

There is an observation deck next to the end station of the funicular. The views are excellent, although there is haze, but you can still see the skyscrapers, and this is worth a lot. The panorama is clickable.

A carriage in which everyone is photographed. The queue for the photo, how to.

The park is decorated for the Chinese New Year.

From a cultural point of view, the sights of the park are only interesting for the Chinese, and well, for sinologists. This is, for example, the source of the nine dragons. It's better to just walk :)

I rise higher and higher, along the path - stones with engraved hieroglyphs.

I would like to know what is written on them.

But this is all nonsense, the most interesting begins a little further, when you buy a ticket for five yuan. On MAPS.ME, the park is poorly marked, so I didn’t immediately understand whether it was worth going or not. In fact, it turned out that after payment all the fun begins.

The place is awesome. She climbed even higher up the stairs. Just keep turning your head.

We pass the arch, dear to the Chinese heart.

Great vantage point! It would be nice to sit next to me, but they won’t understand.

On the way back, the place was also occupied: (But I so dreamed of reading a book in the park, but there was simply nowhere to do it - not to sit on the ground, in fact. Park benches are clearly not enough for the number of vacationers.

City framed by trees.

For some reason, the smog was thicker on the other side.

Those who respect Chinese cuisine will not stay hungry in the park - food is everywhere. Well, I'll get by with ice cream.

They eat mostly instant noodles, which are brewed right there by kind sellers.

Behind the heads of the guys is a building very similar to a mysterious ball not far from Dubna. Did the military drop here too?

Judge for yourself, twin brothers :)

A little more up, and here we are at the top of the mountain. Views - a feast for the eyes.

Special design for locks, I wonder if only newlyweds indulge?

Beijing is within easy reach.

Everyone is taking selfies and I am not far behind.

Good little by little - it's time and honor to know.

One level below there is a “wish alley”, where everyone hangs wooden signs bought here in the park. See how the entrance is designed.

Someone's business is going well, judging by the number of pendants.

Asking for love

wealth,

happy old age?

Just the number of the beast, ok. Well done Lin, original.

After the alley - a gazebo with a view.

Don’t go to a fortuneteller: both in the alley and here, the newlyweds take pictures :)

Climbing up and down the stairs, you constantly come across something. You can even ring the bell for good luck.

Once again, enjoy the view of the mysterious ball and reflect on its origin.

There is a reminder hanging in the park toilet cubicle that it is better to keep your, ahem-ahem, "personal effects" to yourself.

The Chinese love to catch something from the water - if not goldfish, as in, then at least fallen leaves.

On the way back I once again taxied to the observation deck near the funicular stop.

The city was covered with smog.

Skyscrapers in the haze.

The Chinese entertainers cannot just take it and go down, you need to come up with something razedok, for example, a massage path. You can take off your shoes and walk barefoot over the pebbles.

You will not surprise those who have been on pebble beaches with such an attraction.

The park is very green.

Miracle trees, sorry, without leaves - they have winter.

We went down to the temple, which I showed from the height of the funicular.

It was not possible to get inside, because in the evening the temple is closed. But no one forbids walking around the territory.

I did not expect to see such beauty almost at the exit.

Turtles live in and around the pond.

Two women and a man dragged new ones and release them into the pond.

Also local fauna.

It's time to look at the funicular from the bottom up. Goodbye Baiyun!

The time was not very late, so I decided to walk 3.5 km to the nearest metro station. Along the way we came across another park.

There are dozens of parks and squares in Guangzhou, one better than the other.

The day ended with a flat sunset.

Closer to the subway came across the African region. At first I thought that the Afro-Chinese I met were random, but after that the ordinary Chinese disappeared somewhere. The last doubts about whose area this is were dispelled by the point of sale of air tickets.

Already almost at the house I saw a picture - oysters are butchered right on the road. Luxury!

On this, Lena's solo day came to an end. An interesting experience turned out, but it’s better that Pasha doesn’t get sick anymore on trips :)

Baiyun Mountain is located in Guangzhou, China. For many years, it has been the main attraction of the city of Guangzhou and the entire Chinese people, where a huge number of tourists from all over the world come every year. On Baiyun Mountain, you can see the world-famous Mosilin Peak, which is hidden high in the sky, surrounded by white fluffy clouds.

In addition, at the foot of Baiyun Mountain you can visit the famous botanical garden, which contains all the best exotic species of Chinese plants. In addition, you can see the unique tower of Mingzhulou, the Nengzhensi temple, as well as drink healing water at the Qliulong spring.

You can hike to the top of Baiyun Mountain, and for those who think they can't get there on their own, there is a funicular. The cable car takes you to the highest park in China, although you can of course stop along the way and get off at Yuntai Garden.

Yuntai Garden, which is the lowest point on the mountain, covers an area of 120,000 square meters. m. The garden is designed in the special style of the southern Chinese settlements, which were popular in the southern part of the Qinglin system. Although, in the construction of the garden, you can also see elements that indicate Western influence.
