Seats in a Boeing 737. Each airliner has its own name

Boeing 737-800 started flying in 1997. This is a medium-sized, narrow-body airliner with a capacity of up to 189 passengers. It entered the 737 NG (Next Generation) series of aircraft and replaced the out-of-production 737-400.

Boeing 737-800 can accommodate passengers of one - economy class or two - economy and business classes. Passenger seating depends on the airline. Most often, the first 3-5 rows of the cabin are reserved for places of increased comfort. The rest of the space is occupied by ordinary chairs. The distance between the backs of the seats is 72-80 cm. The rows of seats are separated by 2 emergency exits on each side. The chairs that surround them have their own characteristics. We will talk about this below.

Kitchens are located at the beginning and at the end of the salon. There are two restrooms at the tail of the aircraft and one next to the cockpit. It is usually used only for business class.

Most Russian airlines have in their fleet Boeing 737-800. We will cover three of them: Aeroflot , "Siberia (S7)" And "Victory" .

Aeroflot considered the flagship of Russian aviation. He has the newest planes and excellent service on board. Its seating arrangement in the cabin is the most optimal for passengers, taking into account all the design features of the aircraft.

From 1 to 5 rows are occupied by business class seats. They are installed in 2 pieces on each side of the aisle. There are 20 chairs in total. They are distinguished by more comfortable seats and increased distance between rows. The compartment has its own toilet room and kitchen.

Aeroflot has 138 seats in economy class. From 6 to 28 row. They are located in two rows of 3 chairs in each.

The most convenient places

At Aeroflot have a service "Space+". These are 4 places that are in the 13th row. 2 aisle chairs on each side. Why are they good? Due to being next to the emergency exit, they have a large distance between the seats. These seats are sold with a surcharge.

Armchairs of the 12th row, which are also in a more favorable position due to the large distance between the chairs, have 2 minuses: non-mobile armrests and a backrest with a smaller angle of inclination. If this is not a problem for you - choose them.

The most uncomfortable places

Perhaps they can be called places in the 27-28th row - by the toilet. First, the neighborhood itself is not very pleasant. Secondly, the constantly standing queue does not add positive.

Also, passengers of row 11 and 12, which we have already talked about, will not feel very comfortable. The backs of these seats will be in an almost upright position for the entire flight.

The seating arrangement of this airline is similar to the previous one, but with its own characteristics.

The business class here occupies only 12 seats in the bow of the aircraft. They are arranged in 3 rows of 4 chairs each. The compartment has a separate toilet and kitchen.

The remaining 154 seats - from the 4th to the 29th row represent the economy class. The cabin has 2 rows of seats, 3 on each side. The 13th row here also has a special status. Due to the fact that there are emergency exits nearby, there are only 4 chairs in it. The airline removed one chair from the wall. Seats that stand with their backs to the emergency passage have a limited folding angle. Therefore, despite the convenient long distance, these places are not very comfortable.

The airline does not list the extra-comfort seats on its website, but you will be charged a commission when you buy a ticket or check-in if you choose to sit in them.

In some Boeing 737-800s, the ratio of business and economy classes is 8/168 seats.

The fleet of this airline consists of Boeing 737-800 aircraft, produced in 2014-2015. This is an excellent indicator, despite the fact that it is considered a budget. At "Victory" there is no business class, but it is possible to purchase tickets for XL seats for an extra charge, namely those in the middle, at the emergency exit and in the first row. But there are some restrictions, they apply to all airlines. They will not be placed here:

  • a pregnant woman;
  • passenger under 18;
  • a passenger with a child;
  • disabled passenger.

It will be inconvenient for people who bought seats at the very end - at the toilets and for those whose back does not recline at a large angle. For example, sitting with their backs to emergency exits.
You can choose a worthy seat on the plane a day before the flight by making an online booking.

Pleasant flight!

For budget aviation companies, traditionally, they all have one layout. This is a one-class cabin with 189 passenger seats.

Given that Ryanair is a low-fire airline, there is no need to talk about a comfortable flight. The inconvenience already begins with the airport, which can be located at a very considerable distance from the destination, for example, Frankfurt-Hahn Airport is 140 kilometers away from Frankfurt.

Now consider the aircraft and its configuration.

An important detail of all Ryanair aircraft: the fact that the backs of passenger seats do not recline at all. That is, there is not a single back in the entire plane.

You also need to consider that the narrow width of the chair is only 17 inches (43 centimeters) and the step between the rows is 30 inches (76 centimeters). All these measures help in increasing the number of seats.

But, in this version, there are places a little worse and a little better than standard ones.

Note that like many other low cost airlines, Ryanair's boarding pass does not list your seat. That is, a passenger can take any seat in the cabin.

But there are two options for getting more comfortable seats - PRIORITY BOARDING and RESERVED SEATING.

    PRIORITYBOARDING (7 euros) - priority boarding. That is, you will be delivered to the plane first, so you can take any place that is not occupied by RESERVEDSEATING.

    RESERVEDSEATING (10 euros) reservation of any seats on the plane, including seats at emergency hatches. It is possible to order either online or at the airport. Places r.: 1,2,5,15,16,17,32,33 are available only with such a reservation.

A couple of general points about the location of the seats in the Boeing 737-800 - their disadvantages and advantages.

1. Seats that are located next to the window have the advantage of being able to look into it during the flight (this, of course, depends on the time of flight and the weather). If you fly at night, this merit does not count. Another neighbor will not bother you if he wants to get up. These places have one drawback - it is not very convenient to leave it yourself. Therefore, if there is no need to go to the toilet often or you intend to oversleep the entire flight, choose seats by the window.

2. The seats, which are located near the aisle, have their own dignity - it is very easy to get up from it, if necessary, to the toilet. The disadvantages are that a neighbor can be disturbed if he needs to get up. Flight attendants with carts and passengers who pass through the cabin to the galley and toilets can also interfere. Therefore, if you are flying with a child and, most likely, you will often have to go to the toilet. Or you yourself have a need to go to the restroom more often, then choose from the edge of the seat.

    1 p. - enough free space for legs and knees.

    1A is a little worse, because the emergency door sticks out a little into the cabin. Also, this chair does not have one of the armrests.

    2 p .: F, E, D-partition is located at a fairly large distance, this is convenient. But proximity to the kitchen will cause some concern. Folding tables, as in 1 p., are in the armrests, which immobilizes them.

    11A - there is no porthole near this chair.

    16 and 17 p. located near the emergency hatches. Here the distance to the row standing in front is slightly increased. You can comfortably stretch your legs. In these rows, it is forbidden to block the approach to the hatches with hand luggage. Passengers must meet the following restrictions: 16 years of age or older; ready and able to help in an emergency; no babies or children. Passengers with disabilities are not allowed to sit. These places can only be taken at an additional cost.

    33 p. - the last row of the aircraft. Very close to the kitchen and toilets. It is always anxiety and vanity. Also, above this row there is no hanging wardrobe for luggage. Often used to store various equipment by crew members.

    Ask an Airline Worker for Advice

    If possible, carefully study the scheme of the airliner on which you will fly

    Do not take seats in which the seats do not recline or are limited in this

    Do not take places near toilets, kitchens and other technical rooms in the very tail.

Dear site users!

We hope this article was helpful to you.

If you have ever flown with an airline in your life, please share your feedback about the flight.

Clear skies to you, as the pilots say, and a soft landing!

Aeroflot currently has 11 models of the Boeing 737-800 with tail numbers: VP-BRF, VP-BRH, VP-BRR, VP-BZA, VP-BZB, VP-BON, VQ-BVO, VQ-BVP, VQ-BWA, VQ-BWB, VQ-BWC. All planes are brand new and were delivered to the company from the factory. The "oldest" aircraft made its first flight on September 24, 2013. It is in the Aeroflot tradition to keep only new airliners in the fleet. All this suggests that no matter what aircraft you get, the cabin will in any case be new and not shabby after many years of operation.

The cabin layout of the Aeroflot Boeing 737-800 is designed for 158 seats, of which 20 seats are reserved for business class and 138 seats for economy class. Of the general advantages, passengers note the wide seats of this Boeing, and of the obvious disadvantages - a small distance between the rows of seats.

The layout of the cabin is taken from the official website of Aeroflot:

Let's move on to the analysis of the best and worst places for this aircraft.

Location of seats on the Boeing 737-800 Aeroflot aircraft - cabin layout

Row 1-5. Boeing business class. The chairs here are arranged in pairs in two rows. The distance between the rows is quite large (more than 100 cm), so it will be convenient for even a tall person to stretch their legs. Each seat here is equipped with its own monitor (how many inches we do not know), unlike the economy class, where the screen is one, common. Seats C and D have a small minus, as they are located a few meters from the entrance to the toilet. At 100% occupancy, this will mean regular walking past your chair.

Row 6. This is where economy class comes in. It is separated from the business class by a partition. It is comfortable to sit here, as there is additional legroom (due to the lack of a row in front). Another plus is that no one will recline the back of the chair on you. The disadvantages of this row are a partition in front of the eyes throughout the flight. But, perhaps, the main drawback of the row is that on the Aeroflot website these places are marked as “Space +” (places of increased comfort) and you will have to pay extra for them from 25 to 50 euros, depending on the flight range.

Row 9, seats A and D. Some passengers complain about the lack of a porthole. For some, this may be a disadvantage. In seat 9C, there may be a box under the seat, which means there may be problems with stowage of hand luggage.

Row 11. Not very good places. The seatbacks here do not recline due to the emergency exit behind the row. The outer seats (A and F) may not have an armrest on the side of the wall. There may also be additional draft and noise.

Row 12. Just like in the 11th row, the seat backs do not recline. However, this row is better than the previous one - there is no front row, which means that no one will lean back on you. In addition, there is additional legroom.

Row 13 Seats B, C, D, E. Marked as "Space +", that is, places of increased comfort. Flying here is comfortable, with plenty of legroom and no front row. But again, booking will cost an additional 25 - 50 euros. Please note that seats A and F in the same row are not Space +, as the seats are located near the emergency exit and do not contain an armrest on the side of the wall. The price for these places is standard. It is worth noting that, according to safety regulations, passengers with small children, animals, pregnant women, the elderly and the disabled are prohibited here.

Row 27, seats C and D. Not very good places, as they are on the way to the toilets, which are a few meters away. You can be hit with elbows throughout the flight.

Row 28. Not the best places to book. There is only one toilet in the economy class, and it is located exactly next to this row. All 132 economy passengers will walk past your seats. This means that there will be additional noise, the sounds of a drain tank, crushing, queues, etc.

Along with airbuses, the Boeing 737 800 is the basis of the fleet of the Siberian company S7. It operates 19 aircraft of this model. Narrow-body aircraft are widely used in the world for the transportation of passengers (passanger) and cargo (cargo). The liner operates on short routes (up to 5765 km) and takes on board up to 190 passengers. The high demand for the aircraft has led to the fact that, with improvements and improvements, it is still being produced.

Only a small number of passengers do not care where they will be located on the plane. For almost everyone, it is important to feel in an aircraft according to personal ideas about comfort.

Interesting! C7 received its last Boeing 737 800 quite recently, in 2014, straight from the plant in Seattle.

Passenger compartment configuration 737 800 S7

Each airline determines the layout of the cabin independently when ordering a liner. For the Boeing 737 800 S7, the cabin layout looks like an internal space divided into two compartments with 30 rows of seats.

General characteristics:

The central aisle is wide enough in both classes for the aisle with hand luggage.

Business Class

The Boeing 737 800 S7 uses a 2-2 scheme for business class. Armchairs are soft and wide with a large folding angle. Travelers in the elite class go to a separate toilet located in front.

The 1st row has the advantage that there is no one in front. But closer is the kitchen block, from which smells can be heard;

The 2nd row is separated by a thin partition from the economy class, the noise of a more restless cabin can be heard.

In general, the small advantages and disadvantages balance each other out, and all seats are considered the same in terms of comfort level.

Economy class

Economy class seats are arranged according to the 3-3 scheme. This means that there are window, aisle and middle seats. The seats are not as comfortable and wide as in the elite class, but they provide the minimum acceptable level of comfort.

Passengers place luggage on spacious shelves above their seats or under their seats.

Important! In the front and middle zone, the shaking of the aircraft is not so pronounced when entering turbulence zones.

Choosing the best seat in the Boeing 737 800 S7

Almost every airline customer has individual preferences regarding a window or aisle seat. Medium neutral seats are more suitable for a small percentage of indifferent passengers. They are a combination of the advantages and disadvantages of aisle seating - there is not as much disturbance from traffic in the aisle, but you have to get up if the window seat neighbor decides to get out. The presence of neighbors on both sides, if they are strangers, will create some discomfort for those who do not want to talk on the road.

Benefits of window seats:

The quietest chair with a companion on one side only;

The ability to take photos of landscapes and observe them from the window of the liner;

The convenience of sleeping in flight, no one will bother you with requests to get up to clear the passage;

Good lighting for reading.

The only drawback of the porthole space is the unpleasant feeling of fellow travelers being disturbed if the passenger needs to get off.

Important: Not all window seats have a good view. It can get a chair near the wall of the liner without a window at all or with a view closed by parts of the aircraft. For rows 12 to 20, the wing of the liner is located below. And there is no porthole near seats 9A and 9F.

Characteristics of good places in rows:

3rd row. The best economy class seats. The absence of reclining backrests in front and expanded personal space. The C7 company calls these seats "extra space", which means a sign of maximum comfort in economy class. Their cost is slightly higher, or you need to have a company card above the silver level;

Important! There are no attachments for baby cradles. And passengers with small children will not be allowed to take these seats, as they can cause inconvenience to elite travelers.

13th row. Located next to the emergency exit. The advantage is more space up front. On the seats of the previous row, the backs are fixed with the impossibility of expanding the chair to those sitting in the back. Disadvantages: you can’t sit comfortably in the chair because of the hard backs, it’s forbidden to put personal items under the seats. Due to safety reasons, elderly passengers, children, and the disabled cannot sit on the 13th row;

14th row. Convenient seats due to the increased distance to the previous row. At the same time, you can sit comfortably in the chair, reclining the back. Disadvantages - a small protrusion in the wall of the liner, associated with an emergency exit at places 14A and 14F, and the absence of an armrest on them.

A general lack of seats at the emergency exits - it always feels a little cooler there than in the rest of the cabin.

Bad places: how not to make a mistake

According to the general accommodation conditions on board the Boeing 737 800 aircraft, the entire tail area is considered the least comfortable. But some places have worse characteristics:

12th row. Located in front of emergency exits. In this regard, the back is rigidly fixed. If the backs of the seats of the previous row are still thrown back, it will not be possible to have a good rest;

29th row. At places 29C and 29D, it is unnecessarily noisy and restless due to the proximity of bathrooms and utility rooms.

30th row. Worst choice. It is impossible to recline the backs of the seats in the last row. The location of the toilet rooms nearby creates a constant movement of passengers in this area, noise from closing and opening doors and drains. Another neighborhood, the kitchen block, will not add calmness to the flight.

Passenger feedback indicates that it is slightly colder in the tail of the aircraft. Usually you have to think about additional insulation.

  1. It is good to study the layout of the Boeing 737 800 cabin before registering. Now there are sites where you can even go on a virtual tour on board the aircraft. Using the 3D panorama, the air traveler will see how the seats are located in reality, evaluate all the strengths and weaknesses of the chosen seat.
  2. Seats at the window are under the letters A and F, at the aisle - C and D, in the middle - B and E.
  3. Aisle seats are recommended for passengers who wish to walk without interference. In addition, you can get off the plane faster from here.
  4. The first to leave are those occupying the seats of the front rows of the liner. They also begin the distribution of food.
  5. Online registration is available on the company's website. The earlier the airline's client starts checking in, the higher the chance of choosing a suitable seat. But this is not possible in all cities. The list is presented on the S7 website. If, nevertheless, check-in is made from a city not specified in the list, the passenger will change their seat at the airport.
  6. Despite the reduced overall noise level on the Boeing 737 800, noise is even less noticeable in the fore area.
Important: Online check-in opens 30 hours before departure.

Of course, not everyone will be able to get the best seats on the liner, but if you think about it, the vast majority of seats can be found to have their positive sides. For example, in the tail, when the aircraft is not fully loaded, it will be spacious and comfortable. The main principle in choosing a good seat is to do it as early as possible.

The Boeing 737-800 passenger liner is an elongated modification of the previous model - 737-700. It has been in serial production since 1998. Its main competitor is the Airbus A320. The photo of the Boeing 737-800 shows the standard cabin equipment, which differs for different airlines. This can explain some inconsistency in reviews of the flight of various passengers. This model is used by a number of carriers, including Ryanair, Viking Airlines, Sky Airlines, United Airlines, Aeroflot, Transaero and many others.

Note! Directly on the ticket that you buy, the seat in the cabin is not indicated. The seat number will be indicated on the boarding pass.

You can choose a seat not when booking or buying a ticket at the box office or on the website, but at the registration stage. However, keep in mind that at the airport you will not have enough time to consider the location of the seats, besides, the scheme of the Boeing 737-800 or another model will be absent before your eyes. If you want to take a particular chair, please choose a seat in advance at home. To understand where the best seats are on board the aircraft, the Boeing 737-800 cabin layout, which is presented below, will help. In this section, we will consider the seats in relation to the aisle.

If you have a fear of flying, ask an airport worker to seat you near the aisle. So you will be at the maximum distance from the porthole, you will not be tempted to look out the window, and you will also be able to get up from your chair without hindrance, and you won’t need to disturb your sleeping neighbor if you want to go to the toilet or just stretch your legs. However, please note that you will have to release fellow travelers, and you may also be accidentally hit by other passengers and flight attendants who will pass by.

As practice shows, the most uncomfortable place is located in the middle, especially when strangers sit on the sides. It will be difficult enough for you to leave your seat, in addition, there is no “own” armrest either.

There is more space in front of the seats at the level of the escape hatches compared to other places

Where are the best and worst seats on a Boeing 737-800?

The configuration of the Boeing 737-800 aircraft is somewhat different not only for different carriers, but also in the fleet of one company there may be different variations. For example, Transaero has at its disposal Boeing 737-800 for 144, as well as 158 seats. The difference lies in the presence in the first case of the imperial class in addition to the business. The economy class cabin of the second modification can accommodate 9 more seats, and there is no imperial class.

Aeroflot added a new Boeing 737-800 to its fleet for 158 seats in 2013. He was assigned tail number VP-BRF. It is worth noting that most of the places are neutral in terms of comfort level, although there are a few features. Consider them on the diagram of the Boeing 737-800 Aeroflot aircraft, the best places in the picture are highlighted in green, the contradictory ones are in yellow, and the bad ones are in red.

Scheme of the Boeing 737-800 aircraft

Rows ##1-5 belong to the business class, the "general" cabin starts from the sixth. If you are worried about not having enough legroom, feel free to ask to be placed in row number 6, as there will be no other seats in front. The best places are in row number 13 level with emergency hatches.

Note! For safety reasons, not all passengers are allowed to be placed in row 13, since in the event of an emergency, people who are closest to the emergency exits will have to open them. Seats in rows Nos. 12 and 13 not allowed to be occupied by the disabled, passengers with children or animals.
