Zvartnots Yerevan International Airport. Zvartnots International Airport Yerevan Zvartnots Airport flight schedule online

When you fly to another city, and even more so to another country, you always look at its air gates.
I am a frequent visitor to Yerevan, but this time the visit turned out to be special. I looked at my favorite airport with completely different eyes.

Why the flight to Yerevan was special deserves a separate story, but now I will tell you how we flew from Yerevan to Moscow and share my impressions.

2. I won’t tell you about the new terminal, but if you carefully read my posts, you can find all the information about how it was built and put into operation using the Zvartnots tag. The terminal itself is very beautiful, but I don’t understand why you should block the view of it with a bottle of wine.

3. The old and stunningly beautiful Zvartnots terminal is still alive, despite talk that it will be demolished.

4. It’s impossible to get to it, everything is closed by a fence, but I’ve been there before and I have photos from there on my blog.

5. Do you know what this stained glass window is made of?

6. There is no security check at the entrance to the terminal, so we go straight to the check-in desk. Pay attention to this frame. If you are careful and know the classification of passenger types, then you will see three of them here. Can you name it?

7. Strollers weighing up to 5 kg can be checked in immediately before boarding, but the tag must be attached in advance. Otherwise, alas, the stroller will not get on board.

8. For the information of frequent fliers to Yerevan. The baggage allowance has been reduced to one item weighing no more than 23 kg. And before there were two.

9. Luggage packing 3500 AMD. Converted to rubles, this is about 500 rubles. Expensive!

10. Departure hall.

11. Someone on Instagram asked me to send a postcard from Armenia. No question - catch it :)

12. Our plane to Moscow. I’m used to Aeroflot putting Airbus on flights to Yerevan, but here it’s Boeing. Ok, let it be Boeing. The main thing is to fly!

13. On the eve of Victory Day, flying on a plane named after Konstantin Simonov is very symbolic.

14. Paradise for airplane lovers. You can look at the platform from a luxurious sun lounger. The main thing is not to miss the start of planting.

15. Beauty! And no restrictions on filming.

16. We haven’t forgotten about those who smoke either. To each his own.

17. Boarding is open.

18. In honor of the 71st anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, Aeroflot held a traditional campaign for veterans from May 3 to 12, 2016. Veterans and disabled people of the Great Patriotic War, former minor prisoners of fascism living in Russia, the CIS countries, the Baltic states and Georgia and citizens of the respective countries were given the right to fly completely free in economy class.

Aeroflot undertakes to pay not only fares, but also all taxes and fees. Also, each participant in the holiday promotion had the right to obtain free transportation for one accompanying person.

19. This grandfather is 93 years old!!! He was flying to meet his fellow soldiers. In my opinion, to Crimea. As I understand it, he refused the stroller himself, but he was pleased to be accompanied by an Aeroflot representative.

20. So I went on board. I'll tell you a secret. On board he was upgraded to business class. And I think we did everything right!

21. Aeroflot airline representative in Armenia Arthur has known me for a long time, so he couldn’t refuse me this shot :)

22. The same business class.

24. The telebridge has been removed.

25. Ready to taxi!

26. Let's go!

You may ask, where is the footage from the flight to Moscow? But they are not there. Sometimes you just need to relax and just fly :)

Construction of Zvartnots Airport began in 1959. The project was developed by a group of architects: A. Tarkhanyan, S. Khachikyan, L. Cherkezyan, Zh. Shekhlyan and designer S. Bagdasaryan. The airport opened in 1961, but the architects’ plan was finally realized only in 1980, when the “white” terminal was put into operation. This is a very unusual project from an architectural point of view. The terminal, located in a circle, was surrounded by a two-tier automobile overpass, and a control tower rose in the center of the structure. The airport is located 12 km away. west of Yerevan at an altitude of 865 meters above sea level and occupies an area of 52,000 square meters. m.

In 1998, a cargo terminal was completed and put into operation, which made it possible to increase the airport's cargo turnover to 100 thousand tons.
On December 18, 2001, the Armenian government signed an agreement with the Argentine company Corporación America on the management of Zvartnots airport for a period of 30 years (starting from June 9, 2002). The investment plan included the creation of a new international terminal and bringing the airport up to international standards. Construction of the terminal began in 2004, and in the summer of 2007 the new terminal was opened and received its first passengers...

A surge in passenger traffic in the early 2000s created the need to expand redevelopment plans. In October 2008, construction began on the new terminal of Zvartnots Airport in accordance with international standards. The occupied area of the terminal was 34 thousand square meters. m., total investment - $160 million...
2.

On September 16, 2011, the opening of the new airport complex took place. Its first visitors were passengers arriving on the Moscow-Yerevan flight from Domodedovo airport. The class of the last terminal of Yerevan Zvartnots Airport is the highest in the South Caucasus. International security standards are ensured here, an X-ray inspection system and automatic photocopying devices are installed, as well as a modern centralized heating and air conditioning system. The building has a 9-point seismic resistance...
3.

“The Stork’s Nest” is what the pilots called the round terminal building. Practical, multifunctional, and even with a unique architectural design, Zvartnots Airport was considered one of the best air terminals in the Soviet Union. But soon this monument may remain only on the covers of old magazines. The airport authority has raised the issue of demolishing the building. Controversy over the significance of the old building began this year when the airport concessionaire filed a petition with City Hall seeking permission to demolish...
4.

Mher Cherkezyan, the son of one of the architects of Zvartnots, considers this decision illegal, since the building is an original monument to the constructivist movement, of which not many have survived today... “This is a unique project,” he says, “the building was thought out to the smallest detail. " To preserve the architectural monument, the defenders of Zvartnots turned to the Public Council for help, proposing to include the building in the list of state-protected cultural monuments.

In turn, the management of Zvartnots Airport provides arguments proving the need to demolish the building: the number of passengers is growing and the airport must expand. They are planning to build a new complex on the site of the dilapidated building. Seismologists in Armenia are also in favor of demolishing the old airport building. Over the years of inactivity, the structure has become unusable, and any earthquake could be critical for it. If the authorities do not approve the plan to demolish the building, the airport management is ready to abandon its operation, and then the state will bear all responsibility for the reconstruction of the old building. Today this question remains open...

In the winter of 1985, I first took photographs from the building of this terminal Tu-154B-2 (USSR-85442), on which I later flew to Moscow (Domodedovo).

And this year, 28 years later, but from the new terminal, I took a shot with the plane on which we were again flying back to Domodedovo, only it was no longer a Tu...

After reconstruction, the Zvartnots airport runway (09/27), 3850 meters long, has an asphalt surface. Navigation equipment installed at the airfield provides a meteorological minimum corresponding to the second ICAO category for end 09 (landing is allowed with a runway visual range of at least 350 meters and a decision altitude of at least 30 meters. An aircraft applying for category II must provide automatic descent to pre-landing leveling height)
8.

With the commissioning of the new terminal, the airport is able to double passenger traffic (up to 3.5 million passengers annually, versus 1.6 million previously).
34 international airlines connect Yerevan and Armenia with dozens of the world's largest cities, such as Paris, London, Frankfurt, Vienna, Dubai, Munich, Amsterdam, Beirut, Moscow, Prague, etc.

This year a significant event took place for Armenian aviation - the emergence of a new local carrier of the country - the Air Armenia company. Currently, this airline's B737 aircraft operates regular flights to St. Petersburg, Samara, Krasnodar, Sochi and Rostov-on-Don and to Nizhny Novgorod...

It began its journey back in the Union with the registration of CCCP-65072, first in the Lithuanian CAA, and then in Komi. Since 1993, it has been transferred to the Armenian Airlines company, and since 1999 - to government transportation...
16.

And this Tu-134A was released in 1974 and had an initial registration of USSR-65848 and a registration in the Amyansky UGA (1 Yerevan OAO). There are several interesting events in the biography of this car:
- May 31, 1987 At the Zvartnots airport, on a Tu-134A CCCP-65848 aircraft of the Armenian Civil Aviation Administration, during maintenance and troubleshooting the failure of the NP-43M/1 hydraulic pump of the right power unit, the front and right supports folded. The reason was pressing the “retract” button of the electromagnetic valve GA-142/1 in order to relieve pressure in the hydraulic system. The specific culprit has not been identified.
- On May 16, 1988, in the afternoon, in normal weather conditions, this aircraft made an emergency landing outside the airfield on a site selected from the air. The landing area is 50 km east of the city of Rostov-on-Don. The cause of this emergency was a complete blackout of the aircraft, due to a short circuit and mechanical destruction of battery No. 1 (20NKBN - 25) due to “thermal runaway”. At that time, several similar failures were observed with these elements... After that, the plane still flew, although since 1993, already as part of Armenian Airlines. And from 2004 to the present day it has been stored at the airport...
